B’s take tough guy MacDermid with fourth-round pick 06.27.09 at 12:22 pm ET
By Alex Katz

With the 112th overall pick in the fourth round, the B’s selected Lane MacDermid from the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires. The 20-year-old left-winger scored seven goals with 14 assists in 38 regular season games played during 2008-09. Most notable, however, was the success MacDermid enjoyed during the Spitfires’ playoff run that culminated with them winning the OHL’s championship. In 20 playoff games, MacDermid scored four goals with five assists.

MacDermid is also known for his feisty play on the ice. He is especially notorious for his intense fighting and passion, logging 17 fights and 112 penalty minutes in the OHL. A standard Google search proves this as most of the results are YouTube videos of his numerous fights. At 6-foot-3 and 204-pounds, MacDermid is an imposing figure.

    Yeah in 3 years maybe…

So far PC has done nothing to improve this years squad. I am expecting a 6th place finish in the East and 1 and done in the playoffs.

6th place? You sure you have the right team?
The Bruins are a young team that will improve just by having the existing players mature and further develop their roles on the team. I’m sure another puck moving defenceman is in the plans as well. It’s nice to see the team commit to the style of hockey Bruins fans demand with their picks so far in the draft.

I just said as of right now thats how I see it. I think the Bruins over achieved big time in the regular season last year and now the secret is out and other teams have a book on the B’s they arent going to surprise anybody this year.

  • Rocky

There’s no book. Also the Bruins season was as real as it gets. Anyone that can assess young talent can see that. Injuries and a slightly less mobile defense was the only thing that slowed them up this past playoff year.
It takes luck and skill to win a Stanley Cup and this year they were only a couple lucky breaks away. I’m looking forward to the next few. This team is only going to get better and more exciting to watch.

LOL! They “were a couple of lucky breaks away from winning the stanley cup” my god people do you honestly believe this? You are dillusional. If anything watching the Finals with the Penguins and RedWings showed that the Bruins are light years away from a Cup.
