Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli issued the following statement regarding center Marc Savard on Tuesday:

“Today Marc passed the tests administered by Dr. Micky Collins from the Sports Medicine department at UPMC, and is now cleared for contact. Marc will rejoin the team tomorrow for morning skate in Florida. There is no time-table at this time for Marc to start playing games.”

Savard had travelled to Pittsburgh to undergo the testing. He had been cleared for practice and got on the ice with the rest of his teammates on Saturday, though he could not recieve physical contact at the time.

Savard has not played a game this season due to post-concussion syndrome. He suffered a concussion last March against the Penguins, missing the rest of the season before returning in the second round of the playoffs against the Flyers. He suffered a setback while training in the offseason.

With Savard coming back and the need to clear cap space, maybe the Bruins can pull off a big trade to excel this team to the next level.
I heard that Jerome Iginla is now back on the trading block and even though his salary is relatively high, if the bruins package some players together they may be able to reduce the salary cap total number and get a star power forward like Iginla to become the team’s offensive big gun.
In my very amateru opinion Iginla is still very good and quite possibly the best ALL Around player in the NHL as he is not only offesnively skilled but plays with size, grit, goal scoring touch, good passing touch and is defensevely sound. Off the ice Iginla is nothing but a team leader and I have not heard bad things about him like other divas such as Kovalchuk.
Even though a power winger who is paid alot of money may not be something that would seem to make sense, a talent like Iginla’s is hard to find and adding him to this Bruins Roster would make them a better club depending on what they would have to give up in a trade to acquire him.

good call deano!…if iginla can be had boston should definitly move on him, and he fits this teams style of play,i think you make room for a guy like this!he would round out this team as a legitimate cup contender.
