Zdeno Chara reached out to Max Pacioretty after hit

WILMINGTON — To the surprise of nobody, both Boston and Montreal media surrounded Zdeno Chara‘s spot in the dressing room after Bruins’ practice Wednesday. With the B’s and Habs facing off Thursday for the first time since March 8′s 4-1 Canadiens win, the attention naturally turns to the Bruins captain, who was tossed from the game after hitting Habs forward Max Pacioretty into a stanchion.

Chara received major criticism from fans north of the border, and a criminal investigation was even launched into whether the play served as grounds for assault charges. Chara, who was not suspended for the hit, said there might not be a point in trying to change people’s minds.

“It’s tough to really address that,” Chara said. “I don’t know if I should even try. It’s one of those things where they probably are beleiving one thing, and it’s really hard to explain that it just happened.

“I can’t control how they talk about me, or what they say about me. I just try to focus on my game.”

After being initially diagnosed with a severe concussion and a fractured vertebrae, Pacioretty, who said he felt Chara intended to harm him, has not spoken to the Bruins’ captain.

“I made a few attempts,” Chara said. “I’m waiting for some kind of response back, but so far nothing.”

    concussion fractured vertabre and yet he is hangin with tho boys and may even be back for the playoffs. are you really hurt max I know savard is hurting I know Sidney is hurting but you Max are coming back real real quick for my likens and as far as no response ====screw him

    Yeah, Max. You should have called Chara back right away and apologied for throwing your head into the stanchion, giving yourself a concussion and broken vertebra and causing all this grief to Chara and the Bruins. What were you thinking? Damn Habs players, they’re always embellishing. They’ll put themselves in the hospital just to screw the Bruins.

    If you were really hurt, Max, you’d be stuck in a dark room and not speaking to anyone or doing anything. Cause we all know that’s what Savard and Crosby are doing because they’re really hurt. They aren’t having any human contact whatsoever with anyone. That’s what real men do, not dumb punk Habs fakers.

    Really? Chara isn’t looking for any type of apology from Max he simply is being a decent human being and wants to clear the air. As for Chara not being man enough to admit his mistakes, are you kidding? he’s stated numerous times that he didn’t mean to hurt him and as the NHL and any sensible media outlet has said, it was a hockey play. Get off his back, its not like he’s making plays like Matt Cooke or something.

    Zdena, maybe if you told the truth instead of lying through your teeth Max would be willing to speak to you.

    You knew what you were doing. Don’t lie. You knew where you were. You know you meant to hurt him and you almost killed him.

    You should shut your trap. You’re lucky to still be playing hockey.

    HaHa!! What a joke… if he was really hurt he wouldn’t be at the movies 5 days later tweeting about it. Habs are a bunch of diving babies and if you don’t like contact, I suggest you play tennis. No one talks about the cheap shot Patcherneckie took on Chara after a win a couple months ago. He got what he deserved and in true Habs fashion, clearly he was faking. I don’t think Chara was trying to hurt him, he just got lucky. The criminal investigation was a joke too. How about charging the goon Ryan White for jumping Johnny Rocket who isn’t even a fighter. Last time I checked, assault was a criminal offense…not nudging/checking. I am sure he will get his tonight and I can’t wait. Canadiens fans are the worst fans in the world. I wish they would cut off the eastern part of Canada and send it back to France where it belongs.
