Tim Thomas on M&M: P.K. Subban’s act ‘a travesty to the game’ 04.28.11 at 2:09 pm ET
By DJ Bean

Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas joined Mut & Merloni Thursday to discuss the B’s Eastern Conference quarterfinals win over the Canadiens. In talking with Mike Mutnansky and Lou Merloni, Thomas said he does not respect the play of Habs defenseman P.K. Subban, who appeared to dive in an attempt to draw a penalty on Gregory Campbell with Montreal already on the power play late in the first period Wednesday.

“I have respect for the Montreal Canadiens team and the way they played that series and the way that they battled, but to be completely honest, I don’t have respect for actions like that,” Thomas said when asked about Subban. “That’s a travesty to the game. That’s not the way the game is supposed to be played. When I saw that happen in the first period, when he threw himself back on Campbell… it can be infuriating.

“If anything, it seems the refs let him get away with more, which I’m very surprised at. He’s making the refs look not good on a regular basis. He’s got enough talent, and he’s a good enough player that there’s no need for stuff like that.”

Thomas is not the first Bruin to publicly criticize Subban’s style of play. Center David Krejci was open about his feelings for the rookie defenseman after Game 1 of the series.

“I don’t like him,” Krejci said after Subban appeared to embellish on a play to draw a hooking call in the Habs’ 2-0 win. “I’m not going to say what I think about him, but I don’t like him.”

While Thomas is no fan of Subban’s play, he is clearly a supporter of the Canadiens’ netminder in Carey Price. Both Thomas and Price allowed 17 goals over the course of the series, and though they fought back on Feb. 9, there is clearly a mutual respect between the two.

“He battled hard from start to finish in that series,” Thomas said. “I’ve got to give him a lot of credit. As an opposing goalie, it’s team vs. team. You’re not really playing goalie vs. goalie. In this scenario, when the other goalie’s playing that well, he pushes me to be as good as I can be.

“There were moments where you just kept waiting for him to hopefully break. It just never happened. A lot of times, if you put enough pressure for a long enough time on the opposing goalie, they’ll break. That didn’t happen.”

The Bruins will open the Eastern Conference semifinals Saturday in Philadelphia vs. the Flyers.

I didn’t know Tim Thomas was such a jerk. I guess he is jealous that P.K. blew that shot past him to tie it at three.

  • Ewen MacIsaac

So if it’s wrong for Subban to act that way, why is it okay for Brad Marchand to behave in the same manner?

  • David Ryan

Thomas should keep his yap shut. Talk about being a sore winner. Ever heard of winning with grace?

  • http://BleacherReport Charlie West

Pot, kettle, black, come on Timmy, your team mates hardly represent the most virtuous of sportsmanship – Ferrence alone is probably one of the dirtiest – both in respect to his play and his demeanor – guys in the game. While I love the game, I some times wish that the media wouldn’t bother interviewing the players (ironically, other than PK, who seems to be a thoughtful, considerate individual). Most of them are jocks, who sound like jocks and are completely out of touch with the realities of the word around them. Tim Thomas should mind his p’s and q’ and worry less about the PK’s.

  • Johnny

Brad Marchand is just as bad if not worse than Subban and has less talent. I don’t see the habs bitching about the way he was acting. The refs had warned him multiple times, i didnt see them warn subban.

  • Byron

Just when I was starting to like Tim Thomas. It’s like these guys have never seen a hockey game before. WTF? No idea what the venerable Mr. Thomas was thinking, but I can see that he wasn’t thinking about Marchand (more dives, and held sticks, etc…) or Ferrence (didn’t hear him saying that the dirty, dangerous, and pointless headshot that Fairy-nce got away with… right in front of Mr. T… was a travesty). And we won’t get into the discussion on whether(I admit it) PK trying to draw a penalty (even though he WAS being held), is “part of hockey” and therefore NOT a travesty, when that whole team was in chorus screaming how Max Pac was maybe exaggerating his fractured vertebra and concussion, and that the Chara hit was “just part of the game”…

Let’s have ONE scale for judging, shall we.

Of course, it is OBVIOUS that nobody dislikes PK because of the colour of his skin, right?…………. riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

  • pklNHL

Very poor journalism!!!They (or “he”)had Thomas in interview and not a word abt Ference “equipment malfunction”(the f*** you),and the dirty hit,the worst I’ve seen in the series yet!!!

    Mut & Merloni;Who are they?Fr Boston?or just loco!!!

  • Listen

when did montreal fans start listening to EEI? you guys are ridiculous and your ignorance of the game is obvious.

  • Glenn O’Neil

As a B’s fan, I’m actually embarrassed by Thomas’ comments. The series is over Tim, just move on. Our own players like Marchand and Ference have done their share of crap, so we’re in no position to thrown stones at others.

  • rcbakewell

OMG – have you ever seen something like that !
YES – about ten thousand times during the past 40 years of hockey.
You do what you can ( without seriously hurting someone ) to win !
Get over it- 3 cheers for P.K.

  • John

Everyone on this is crazy. Marchand and Subban can’t be compared. Marchand yaps his mouth and creates scrums, which is a common occurance in hockey. PK is a complete loser – he cheats. He dives and tries to get calls that aren’t even close to being warranted, because he fakes. It is a disgrace to the game, it’s so cheap. You’re a professional hockey player, grow up.

  • Chris Anderson

I don’t remember Boston greats like Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque spewing bulls*hit like this. They had class, unlike Thomas. Especially when his teammates are some of the dirtiest SOBs in the league.

  • GOTIMMMAAAY

what is there to be embarrassed about? him being honest? wow. if you guys actually listened to the interview, he was actually pretty complimentary of montreal, especially carey. the bruins are better off without you guys as fans.

  • Dwight Blackmore

Thomas is an idiot. I can’t believe I paid good money on tickets to watch him this year. I hope they trade him in the offseason and go back to Rask. How can he play alongside Marchand and watch his antics and then complain about Subban? I’m not complaining about Marchand, I like him, I just don’t see how Thomas can love one guy and complain about the other.

  • eggsbenedict

john and timmaay are right. i guess there is nothing better to do in montreal when you are bitter than post on WEEI as if you’re a bruins fan. all you bruins haters really are disgraceful…after one of the best games in a long time for the bruins, you guys are hating on tim thomas? really? wake up, guys. go cheer for the wnba.

  • Deano

Looks like the Montreal Dive team fans have chirped in. That play by P.K. Subban last night was ridiculous, not only did Subban deserve a diving penalty but he should have been called for holding. Thomas did not even mention the countless other dives in this series and I highly doubt any of you actually listened to the interview in whole. Have fun on vacation MTL at least when you dive in the Caribbean or Florida this next week you won’t hear us Boston fans complaining. Have fun watching the Bruins; who were the better team; play in the next series.

What Marchand dive are you all talking about? What game, what period and who hit him to make him dive and who was penalized for it?

Timmy Thomas is the man, if he is calling out P.K. Subban then there is a reason. I have been watching Thomas his entire professional career and he has never called anyone out like this before. P. K. Subban is talented but he is still a rookie and should stop the diving and acting routine now before I lose all respect for him as a talented player.

Johhny and company, the Habs bitched about everything that happened in the series. If anyone on the Bruins touched them or even came close they acted as if they had been severely injured. Even the last penalty on Bergeron to tie the game was BS. Watch the replay Bergeron’s stick never came into contact with Wisniewski, he just snapped his head back because it was close. You people are ridiculous and Thomas is not the only person calling out MTL for diving in this series.

I personally think it is absurd and a joke when a player dives. When I played ice hockey it was a badge of honor to get off the ice if I was hurt; as to not let my team down. Obviously MTL does not care about this as Wisniewski laid there on the ice with a cut lip in game 1 (real big injury i’m sure, last time i checked a cut lip did not affect how you skated), Hamrlik laid on the ice twice and once cost MTL a big goal last night, Spacek was so injured he was back on the ice in like five minutes in game 6 after the Lucic hit, last night Halpern after the Ference bump was so injured he was back on the ice in six minutes. What did Halpern break a nail?

Figures the MTL fans did not even pick up on the biggest dive in the series by their most hated player. If anyone on the Bruins took a dive it was Chara last night when he drew a penalty. Watch the games with some intelligence and you MTL fans might get a clue.

  • Brad Delaney

As a coach, I always tell my players not to be sore losers or sore winners. Looks like nobody ever taught Thomas this lesson. His team won the series, why be a dirt bag about it later? I suppose if Subban played for the Bruins his act would be just fine and if Marchand played for the Canadiens he’d be the one Thomas would whine about. I’m a proud Bruins fan who is proud of the team’s first-round win, but I don’t support Timmy’s comments.

  • eggsbenedict

delaney, you are not a bruins fan. go back to montreal.

  • Randy Cooper

Love the Bruins, but hate these remarks by our goalie. Don’t see the point in what Timber said, Subban is doing the same thing as half the other players in the league. Don’t see Timmy calling out Chara for his dive last night. Oh well, go Bruins.

  • Chantelle Williamson

Brual Tim, just brutal. Way to expose yourself as a jerkoff.

  • Carla Pike

In the world of Tim Thomas:

    1. It is okay for Chara to break a man’s neck
    2. It is okay for Ference to give a crowd the middle fingeer
    3. It is okay for Marchand to dive and yap constanlty

But it is not okay for Subban to take a dive. That’s just over the line. Makes total sense. Another stupid hockey player.

  • Kevin O’Grady

If you want to make yourself look like a total d*ck, just follow the example set by Tim Thomas.

  • Pat

Somehow it wouldn’t surprise me if more then half these bad comments about Thomas are by the same disgruntled Habs fan changing his name each time. Kind of pathetic if it is.

  • Sandy Smith

Shouldnt Thomas be concentrating on those punks from Philly (freaking hate the Flyers)? I don’t know why he is still concerend with the series that just ended when he should be looking ahead.

  • Tucker Mullens

    Thomas is a moron.

  • Dave

Huh? What’s Timmy’s problem? You’d think we lost the series the way he is talking.

  • Main Man Stew

    Sour grapes, Timmy boy.

  • The Undertaker

Ridiculous statement from our vezina winning goalie. I expected better from Thomas, he always seemed like one of the smarter players.

  • http://none Mikey

haha woww, obviously a pathetic loser habs fan posting multiple posts with multiple names, bashing tim thomas. Get a life and stop overreacting

  • Kyle

Making the B’s look kind of greasy here, Tim.

  • Jess

What a classless organization. Ference, Marchand, Chara, Lucy, the whole works of them. Just a bunch of cavemen dragging their knuckles on the ground.

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... Gavin

I use to like Thomas. But just lost all respect for him. Smart people know thet shouldn’t talk more than need be. Sorry Tim.

  • Winning

Who was it they interviewed? Tim Thomas or Jack Edwards? Hard to tell the difference now.

  • Spike

    You suck Thomas.

  • 55 and still Alive

I’m a Habs fan with a question for the Bruins fans:

Why is Marchand and Ference the only two allowed to act like jerks? It’s okay if they do it, but if anyone else does it’s a big deal. Hypocrites.

  • Brian

hahaha at all the butt hurt canadiens fans. they’ve had diving players on their teams for so long that they’ve been brain washed into thinking it’s an accetable and common in the game. it absolutely is not. did you see the look on Subban’s face when he dove against Campbell? he looked over his shoulder to see if the linesman was watching, stiffened up like a board and fell over for no reason. they’re all a bunch of divers and embellishers up in Montreal. Subban being the worst of them. but hey, all their offense comes on the power play so I can see why they’d be doing it…because they were no match for the B’s 5 on 5. that was one dive too late, Montreal. go back to Canada and mull it over for the rest of the summer.

  • Danno

I guess Thomas is just another Archie Bunker bigot on a team full of them. I guess that’s what the big B stands for. Bigotted idiots.

  • Brian

and also, how are these remarks even that upsetting to anyone? all he said is that he didn’t appreciate his style of play. it’s not like he called Subban a racist name or anything. have a nice summer, Habs fans…

  • zsa-zsa gabor

Thoise Bruins should win the cup, they have Dr. Recchi who can diagnose over the television, Gregory Campbell who wouldn’t get suspended if he pulled a gun and shot someone on a breakaway, and Timmy (riding the short bus)Thomas the expert on sportsmanship, Olympic water sports, and wine making (hence the sour grapes). You guys won now have some class and shut the f up.

  • Wave

    Greasy? Greasy?

The B’s just dispatched the greasiest team in the NHL. Bar none.

But rejoice Canadiens fans (so many of whom showed up here today posing as Bruins fans), you have all summer to figure out how to score goals when you’re skating 5 on 5.

  • Jimbo

More sour grapes from Montreal fans. All this talk about about not having class… what? like booing the U.S. National Anthem, or throwing debris on the ice after a bad call?. Have another Molson and we’ll see you next season.

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... Come correct

    Krech-sissy can’t he even hold PK’s jock.
Last time you approached someone you didn’t like, Pouliot, you got bitch slapped then he did the same to your little big brother Ferrence.

  • Tum Tum

Yeah, I have absolutely no idea where Subban’s reputation for diving came from, none at all. If only there were some kind of video evidence available, maybe I would understand…

Also, for the Habs fans on here citing sour grapes as an explanatory factor in Timmy’s comments (refreshing to hear a hockey player actually weigh in on a controversial issue for a change, by the way): aren’t sour grapes something that you get when you lose? Remember who lost this series? Try asking Roman Hamrlik or Carey Price.

  • heh

habs have been diving all series…heck even price (who surprisingly played well) got 1 or 2 in. some of you are idiotic for calling chara ‘dirty’. stop drinking the koolaid of the local media. this coming from someone in montreal. was awesome series.

  • dee

tooomas is getting old thats what come 1st to mind otherwise I don’t get this cry baby talk. just like recchi the doc.. it seems the EQ in Boston bruins is running very low.

  • X

The Bruins are such a team of a-holes. Just like their fans. I bet Thomas gave Lucic a round of skull to celebrate the win.

  • Barb

I refer to the Boston team as the”Boston Bullies”,appears it’s ok for that team to play jerkls!!

  • Bruins in 2011

Thomas should give it a rest, already. We won, why all the fuss?

  • Real Habs Fan

What a shame, it was a great series, why get into this stuff after the series is over? I thought it was another classic battle between two rivals, I guess your goaltender saw it differently.

  • Stan Parker

Grow up Thomas, you sound like a 10-year-old.

  • Batman

    Tim Thomas = idiot.

  • LynnS

Yes come on guys, that dive by Subban was completely unacceptable, this is how we play hockey:
    hit by chara
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jimZ1tSdPY0
    sentiment of ference
    http://www.totalprosports.com/2011/04/22/andrew-ference-give-habs-fans-the-finger-video/
    Ference shoulder on Halpern
    http://www.hockeyinsideout.com/news/nhl-wont-suspend-ference-for-hit-on-halpern
If Thomas is so concerned about bad players, how come he didn’t “call out” his own???? Just sayin’
Good luck w/Philly though, you guys will need it :)

  • Chas

Next Series please I hope the Bruins & Flyers kick the sh*t out of each other and let A GOOD team win the cup

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... HockeyRocks

    1. Suban took an obvious dive and looked foolish doing so.
    2. Montreal needed the PP to score.
    3. Boston won and that plus the previous playoff sweep are upsetting to a former dynasty.
    4. Thomas was gracious towards Price and the Habs.

Great series. Price was outstanding. Subban has talent. Montreal and Boston refused to go quietly. The positive play outweighed the negative on both sides by a wide margin.

  • carl

marchand diving? lol that is REALLY grasping for straws.

i really wish the ip addys were added to these comments…its too easy to comment multiple times under the anonymity of different usernames.
which is obvious what’s happening…2 or 3 really lonely pathetic montreal fans filling this forum full of crap.

  • habs fan

    Boston was the better team

    see what i mean?

  • smartguy

theres always baseball…oh yeah you losers dont have a baseball team anymore, lol.

  • bosox in minnesota

i remember when after a hard fought series teams in the NHL respected each other, wish Thomas had been quiet,he only called out 1 player and gave props to the reast of the team but wish he did not say wehat he did…that said, as a fan Subban is a faker, too bad because he has talent, does seem like the Bruins were penalized for being bigger and stronger, every big hit seemed to be called against them, because of the reactions (real or otherwise) of the Montreal players..

  • Jack

Look, he’s not a sore winner. Honestly, that was a dive. A horrible, senseless dive. A sore winner would criticize a player based on skill, and yet Thomas goes and praises the kid’s talent. And Marchand doesn’t dive. He’s an agitator, but not like that. He won’t lay on the ground to try and draw a penalty. Sure, players will sometimes help a call along when the refs haven’t been getting some right, but if Marchand were hit, he would go right after the guy who hit him, not lay on the ground pathetically.

  • Because Honor Matters

    Dear Barb,
It is The Broad Street Bullies (Philly) & The Big Bad Bruins. If you are going to be a hockey fan please know your shit & don’t just go making things up. Which by the way is going to be a hell of a series because no matter who wins both teams are going to PLAY their hearts out, Not one team trying to turn the game into professional wrestling, practicing for an Oscar nomination.
Playing like swans while the refs act like pawns & the NHL makes a lot of money off a longer series. As for not liking Thomas’ comments- He was Asked his opinion & answered honestly. God Forbid.

  • DO’Keefe

Can’t believe anyone here would pick up for Marchand. I’m from the same province as Marchand and you’ll never find me sticking up for that guy. I thought the Bruins were supposed to be big and tough? Marchand is a little rat, why are you guys cheering for him? And Thomas is a real knob, he wishes he had half the talent of Subban.

  • The real Tim Thomas

Smartguy (his posting name) is poking fun at us for losing our baseball team. Big deal, we don’t like baseball in Montreal, that’s why he didn’t go to games. Baseball sucks, it’s a bunch of steroid freaks and fat men taking four hours to play a game. I’d rather watch paint dry.

  • D

    Thomas is a jealous pr*ck.

  • Lesley Chisholm

So much for showing some humility when you win, huh Tim?

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... HockeyRocks

Baseball is like watching paint dry. Watching the Habs dive all over the ice, because they can’t score 5 on 5 is much more entertaining. Watching the mighty 6th seed Habs fall must not have been fun given the vitriol we’re hearing here.

  • Because Honor Matters

Why does he have to pussyfoot about his feelings because we won? How does that make it wrong to tell the truth? What the F is wrong with you people, maybe this is why you can’t see the difference between the all out diving that Mtl does and what goes on in the rest of the league.

  • LynnS

Yes, the WHOLE Habs team DIVES….omg! And why can’t you see you have some dirty players who like to take cheap shots on your team?

  • Because Honor Matters

Cheap shots like shoving someone from behind after the whistle, then grinning and immediately skating behind the ref? Oh wait, that was Subban. At least if our guys do something scummy they are willing to stand & fight & answer for it.

  • LynnS

Good thing dreaming’s free there buddy, might have cost you a fortune. (No dirty players, quite laughable I must say)!!!! LMFAO!

  • Because Honor Matters

Almost Witty, but that’s not what I said, buddy. I said at least we are willing to back or words & actions. That is why everyone hates them. Especially Subban. Even LaViolette called him out.

  • TheTruthIs…

If the entire Boston Bruins team died in a fiery plane crash, no one would give a rats ass. Flyers FTW.

  • jerry cooperman

i happen to like thomas,it goes as far as that. the rest of the bruins are the dumbest and dirtiest players that i have ever seen……chara is a phoney.pretends to be a clean player ,as- – - – e is what he is..also the rest of the goons ,montreal needs a few more ryan’s and a few more big players,i do not know why we did not plow those dirty players into the boards a few more times, as they did not miss a chance to do it to us every chance they had.they put pressure in our end the last 3 games most of the time. its a miracle that we almost won the series.we need more sustained pressure in the other teams side of the rink, boston outplayed us 40 minutes each game.cary price you surprised me, i was angry with last years choice, but you made me a believer, with a potential doug harvey on defence ,and a potential ken, and patrick in nets next year looks very good, with a few changes….. go habs go….

  • Craig

Does it matter? So long Hab ( not) s!

  • Chara Sucks

Thomas is an asshole, just like Chara.

  • Ral

Tim Thomas praised MTL in his interview. I can’t believe the haters posting here. He is allowed to state his opinion. MTL is a nose dive team and bunch of cry babies. BOOO HOOO. Go home.

  • Jim Bob

Deano said it best and is clearly a true fan of the game. Tim Thomas should be applauded for calling out poor sportsmanship. PK Subban made a fool of himself, his teammates and the Habs fans.

  • JCAM

So….there’s probably one piece of crap Habs fan that keeps changing his name to post. Way to go loser!!!

    Oleeeee oleee oleeee oleeee…..gooooo hoooooommmme!!!!!

  • B’s fan in CT

C’mon guys, let’s be honest with each other: Subban is the kind of player you love to hate; if he was on the B’s we’d be supporting the sh*t out of him. Like the Hab-not fans saying the “hate” Lucic, when if he was wearing their jersey, they’d be praising him for his gritty play. Thomas made a thoughtless comment in the after-glow of winning… cut him some slack, everybody. He should start concentrating on the next round. Enough already.

  • http://www.NegroLeagueLegends.org P. G. Crawford

Mr. Flop (Thomas) is calling the kettle black?
    Ha Ha Ha Ha ….

  • jj

Well its not as bad as soccer…The sport of flopping & faking.

  • Dave

I’m not sure I understand the connection between the play of Subban and the play of Marchand and Ference. Marchand is a punk – no doubt. But he’s they kind of guy Habs fans would love on their team. He is a less talented Claude Lemeiux. He gets under the opposition skin with his chirping. Ference play hard, and smart, and he usually hits fair. His was penalized for his hit appropriately – 2 minutes. So what – he gave you the finger. Grow up.

The criticism of Subban isn’t that he’s untalented, or dirty. It’s that he -more than the rest of the Habs team – makes a mockery of the game and dives at the slightest contact. He’s a phenomenal skater, and has a great shot, but his skill is overshadowed by his ridiculous acting.

My probelm isn’t with the Habs as much as it is with thier fan base. No where else is a double-standard applied like it is with Montreal hockey. They get the call – plain and simple, and when they don’t, they create the situation to get the call by diving. All this from a fan base that considers itself the keeps of the grail for hockey. Rocket would be ashamed at the way they play today.

  • Perry

But I guess he respects Ferrence for almost taking Halpern’s head off, Chara for breaking Pacioretty’s neck, or Ferrence (again) for flipping off the Montreal crowd? Give me a break!! Subban is doing what any player would do; trying to give his team an advantage. Shut the hell up Thomas!

  • Wabcan

Well, the Bruins have accused the Habs of taking dives throughout the series. I guess they needed excuses for their lack of intelligence and taking the Habs lightly.

Personally I think that Thomas is a buffoon on skates who has more luck stopping pucks by throwing himself like an idiot in his cage. Not a pretty picture but he stops the shots and I believe it’s more luck than skill. Subban will continue to be criticized because some of the veterans around the league are jealous and figure he is much too young to be that good, but the real reason is that he (Subban) makes it more difficult for them to score. Finally Thomas is upset because Subban really blasted one past him.

Boston barely made it through Montreal but mark my words, they won’t make it through the Flyers.

  • wayne

I can’t believe Thomas saying the Habs were getting a break from the refs are you kidding me.The travesty is the refs and linesmen in game 7 on the bruins 3rd goal.Kelly’s stick to Hamerlik’s throat(eyes closed),puck knocked out of the air with a high stick by Ryder(eyes closed)and guess what goal counts, not to mention Ferrence’s CLASSLESS middle finger gesture to the Habs fans(which Wiz was given 2 games for doing the same to Avery)and his BLATANT, GREASY shot to Halpern’s head(eyes closed)and NO suspension on either call, not to mention all the other BS they got away with.If the Habs would have had a full healthy team we as fans would have been dropping of a broom in the front yard of the closest bruin’s fan. I am very proud of my HABS this year.Everyone knows Price should have been on the vezina list and won it.His numbers this year were amazing, considering the incredible pressure that young man had to overcome, and that speaks volumes about him as a true professional, and yes this year’s Vezina winner

  • wayne

Thomas is really upset at Subban because he still can’t hear after that TANTILIZING shot that lasered past him, just face it Subban is incredible !
And the scary thing is he is only going to get better….. GO SOOBY DOO…..

  • Robert

It is sad that #76 is in some way “overmediaticized” because of his style and the colour he brings in the NHL. but on the other hand it seems that the bruins players and Julien always have something to say after a game. They just keep appearing on the media… The montreal players have taken so many abuse from the bruins all season, yet they never complain.

  • Another Hab fan

Put a Bruins uniform on him and he is a God in Boston. Is there a Bruin fan who wouldn’t want him on their team? I don’t think so.

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... Say what?!

Hey Robert! What do you mean exactly in saying that Subban brings colour to the NHL? (rhetorical)

Tim Thomas had a great season and he seems like a pretty righteous dude. Boston sports commentators have a long history of provoking athletes to say something controversial and then spinning it in to something more than it is. This seems like another case of media over-exposure.

Both teams dove in efforts to create advantages. It’s a part of hockey, like it or not.

As for the Marchand debate, I would take him as a Hab any day. Moen/Halpern/Marchand would be a dream third line.

Subban is going to be one of the NHL’s finest. He was playing almost 30 minutes a game in this series… in his rookie year. He’s confident and young – you won’t see him stirring as much controversy in the years to come.

For the record, I don’t have any ill-will towards the Bruins. I just hate their fans.

And to be fair, I’m a proud Canadiens fan, but I hate our fans, too.

All this crap is moot because the bottom line is that everyone commenting here are hockey fans, we all love our team, and we’ll never give any ground to the those who disagree. So what’s the point?

And I could ask the same of anyone still debating this series. It’s over. Bruins won. Habs lost. Get on with life and stop being angry about something that is done and over with… and can’t be changed?

    Peace.

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... Angela

okay well as much as it’s getting tiring of people bashing PK all the time, I do think Tim seems to have a lot of respect for Montreal and especially Carey, you guys have to admit he pretty much praised Carey in his interviews, which was nice. But ya people really need to lay off PK

  • Johnny

And it infuriates me that a Boston Bruins players comments on “getting away with stuff”.
ummmmmm….. Chara hit on Max, Ference hit to the head on Halpern, Lucic hit from behind on Spacek, and Ference throws up the Middle Finger to the crowd.

Thomas, look in your own back yard and analyze what the Boston Bruins get away with before speaking up.

Might as well give you the VEZINA trophy right now Timmy!

  • Bobby-O

Gee, apparently all the comments are by Montreal fans. Doesnt anyone realize Thomas was just saying what EVERY player in the NHL has been saying about Subban? He runs his mouth, takes cheap shots at players, dives, and runs away. His play reminds me of a former habs player…Claude Lemieux. Not to mention everyone makes a big deal out of Andrew Ference’ finger, how about Subbans gesture after he scored? No fine, no nothing. Its ok as long as a habs player does it, but when someone else does it, its murder. Perhaps subban needs to shut his friggin mouth, learn his role as a rookie, and just play. Everyone gets theirs, his will come, and I seriously hope its Chara who does it in the bell centre.

  • Johnny

    Sorry buddy….. I’m a bruins fan!
and Tim is still an idiot for saying what he said.

I wish I had Subban on my team rather than ummmmm Kaberle

  • http://It'shockeyMs.yeasMissMartin Habs Fan in Flyer town

Job #1 is to make a CLEAN hit that puts the player not into but through the boards – Note the clean hit!! Then when the opposing player hits you in retaliation you cry foul. It’s called hockey. Been played that way before your father was born. Welcome to the NHL where if we only had the original 6 teams still playing you’d be a car salesman.

Now I welcome to to Philadelphia. The city that Boo’s Santa Claus!! The city of Brotherly Love. You want to see hits? You want to see dives? Welcome to the hood. This is a mean town and it’s far from your Bean Town I’m not a Flyer fan, far from it, but the Flyers will make you look like the first day you stood in nets in Pee Wee Hockey.

  • dabruins

ok tim was asked a question and answered big deal!!! as far as the great pk was he nominated for rookie of the year? no norris? no idiots decent player lots of development left to be close to great, oh wait maybe if he was white he would win both awards lol montreal fans are amazing
