Report: Further finger-work will be penalized 06.07.11 at 4:11 pm ET
By DJ Bean

According to a report from ESPN.com, NHL vice president Mike Murphy has told both the Bruins and Canucks that from Game 4 onward, any player waving their fingers or putting their fingers in the mouths of other players will recieve a two-minute penalty and 10-minute misconduct.

Players have taken to the aformentioned actions in wake of Alexandre Burrows biting Patrice Bergeron. The Bruins’ center was facewashing the Canucks’ winger when Burrows bit his finger, and since players have gestured to one another with their fingers. Defenseman Adam McQuaid got in Burrows’ face in Game 2 and asked “are you going to bite me?” and Maxim Lapierre, Milan Lucic and Mark Recchi have since waved their fingers at other players.

What a lousy piece of writing, making mention of how players have since the incident gestured at other players with their fingers, and can’t find the room to mention the Canuck who most blatantly performed the mockery towards Bergeron in game 2.

Oh, so NOW the NHL decides this is an issue? This is the bed they made for themselves when they decided to not discipline Burrows. Had they taken action in the first place they wouldn’t have to be dealing with the repercussions of their negligence now. Not to mention after last night the refs need to quit it with the 10 minute misconducts. No one is watching the Finals to see guys in the sin bin.

So, after sticking his head in the sand after game one and the bite, and after sitting on his hands after the taunt in game two, Mike Murphy decides no finger waving? Maybe if you had managed to actually do your job and FINE(not suspend)Burrows this whole thing would be moot. Now game four will be a referee party. Even if everyone behaves, the ticky tacky crap will get called and encourage the floppers (i.e the Europeans)to do their thing. Thanks for ruining the finals Murphy… You JACKASS

Can’t wait to watch this douchebaggery contest. That is, if I decide to watch this mismanaged beer league. Is the NHL trying to displease the hockey fan? Maybe entertaining, but a horrible example for our youth hockey programs. By far the worst NHL final in my memory, starting to not care…

WHAT A FARCE SOME OF THESE DECISIONS BY MURPHY. NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE ON THE BERGERON BITE EH? HELLO MIKE DOES NOT THE BLODDY FINGER SAY SOMTHING DUHHH ?? AND BURROWS SAYS HE PUT HIS FINGER IN MY MOUTH SO I HAD NO CHOICE LOL. I HAD THE OPPURTUNITY TO SEEE REF STEPHAN WALKEN WHEN HER BROKE IN THE AHL. HE WAS VOTED THE WORST REF IN THAT LEAGUE. MAYBE HE DID A 180 AND NOW TOP DOG IN THE NHL OR GREAT REFS ARE HARD TO FIND. OH WELL NO ONE BUT US FANS READ THESE COMMENTS BUT TIS NICE TO SHARE OUR THOUGHTS

I am confused as usual with NHL’s desicion not to suspened Burrow’s, but are going after the retaliation. If you would have done your damn job in the first place, none of this crap would be going on. NHL caused this fiasco, but are blaming the players. All the blame at this point is on the NHL. Keep up the double standard work boy’s. If someone got shot, you would probably blame the victim for getting in the way of the bullet.

One more thing to think on, Boston is a favorite of Colin Campbell. Just look back at his reaction towards Matt Cooke’s blind-sided hit on Marc Savard. Do what ever you want to the Bruins, there just a bunch of whiners. But, when the Bruins take care of buisness, that is where the league has chosen to draw the line. Try not to be so obvious about your attitude towards the Bruins, it is not very becoming of league officials.
