Dirty? Both teams play a bit dirty. Through the eyes of any fan the opposing team plays dirty. This is especially true when there is a heated rivalry, as is the case with these teams. Marchand did what his coach told him to do protect yourselve and if it brings a suspension time will tell, but as you can see Salo was going for the hit and had no intentions of playing the puck.  It is unfortunate for you canuck fans but Marchand made a move before Salo had a chance to do his hit.  All we can hope for is a rematch in the final, but Vancouver had better look close there are a lot of really good teams in the west, so don’t think your there until you are there just like the Bruins.

Uhmm lets look at the hit on Lucic by “hammer” in the playoffs last season, and see the difference. THERE IS NONE. Canucks barely beat Boston, with two of their top players kicked. The whole game was a joke, from the missed icing call form the officials to the penalties on both sides. Frankly, Shanahan needs to look at everything with a neutral eye, and realize that just because a player gets injured on a hit doesnt make it dirty. Marchand was protecting himself and his head. Salo, decided at last second to not take the hit, and turned his body so he went over backwards, it was dumb for both of them, but THAT IS HOCKEY. The NHL has done a great thing with the rule revisions to speed the game up, but their “NEW” policing effort is getting a little ridiculous. There needs to be some kind of recognition of when REFS blow a call BIG TIME. Like throwing a player from the game in the first period, for something that wasn’t a call to begin with. For the record, I am a Canadian, and a Bruins fan. Frankly the Canucks have represented themselves as a bunch of piss poor sports, who will whine and cheat ‘their own way”. They are taking the honor out of the game, pretending to drop gloves! cmon now, I hope Boston shows some mercy in their next meeting, and the refs show some sense of neutrality.

Bieksa is gonna be the one taking an ice nap when Quaider invites him to dance at our next meeting.  The Marchand hit was completely legal.  See Rule 44.  His principal point of contact with Salo was his thigh.  That’s not clipping, per the rule.  The refs blew this one entirely, as it was a clean hit, just like Hamhuis’ hit on Lucic in the Finals was also a clean hit.

funny he should talk. He had a hit in the third period that was clearly a boarding call, just not called. The hit Marchand did is called a hip check. Happens all the time in hockey. Not sure why they think it was even a penalty. But the part that confuses me is Lucic was thrown for coming off the bench however at one point there were six Canucks on Thornton and one standing to greet incoming Bruins. So seven Canucks. Why no penalty of any type there?

This Boston goon crap is getting old.  There is a difference between good physicality and dirty hockey and, for the most part, the Bruins are pretty damn good at telling the difference; I can’t say the same for the Canucks. The Bruins weren’t the ones instigating most of the fights after the whistle, despite what you Vancouver homers seem to think.  I fail to see how 6 guys jumping 1 guy should result in a 5 on 3 powerplay for the the team pathetic enough to do that.  Sure Marchand’s hit was unnecessary, but when you consider all of the slashing (Burrows, and even Kesler did quite a bit), yapping (Bieksa and Weise), and diving (Most of the team) that the Canucks were doing, and the fact that none of the Canucks were willing to even drop the gloves with Thornton or McQuaid, and Weise was even wimpy enough to back down from a fight he agreed to, then it is kind of stupid how many of you are spinning the story of the “high and mighty” Canucks confronting the “bully” Bruins.  Sure, I would have liked a win, but I am willing to take the loss, because the Bruins were still the cleaner, hard-nosed team, unfortunately they just did not do good enough of a job on the PK.  What we saw the other day was not the refs “finally calling a clean game” as many of you are claiming, but rather the refs calling a bad game which resulted in a Canucks victory.  So congrats on the win, but please stop deluding yourselves.

As a rule, hockey teams are reflective of their coach. Bruins stand up for themselves and for their teammates. Canucks cower at confrontation. I agree the Marchand play was a penalty. But here’s the thing…Canucks players watch Salo get upended and hurt, and not one comes to his aid. Completely unacceptable. Cup finals, Marchand punching Sedin in the face. No one does a thing. Completely unacceptable. Vigneault is a puss. So his team is a puss. They take dives, bite, start what they can’t finish. It’s a disgrace. For one, every team dives. Not just the Canucks. Lappiere
and burrows tend to run their mouths at times, I get where that would make you
mad. Sometimes Lu can say the absolute wrong thing at the wrong time, but who

first in our division, conference, and second in the entire league. Sedins are
2nd and 3rd in the scoring race, But still, they gain no
credit FROM ANYONE. The bottom line is, people just hate when other teams are

Yes. You beat the “Goons” in a regular season, non-divisional, non-conference, matinee game for two points out of a possible 162. Congratulations. I guess that this lessens the sting of having said “Goons” hand you your lunch and basically take the Stanley Cup (to which you and every analyst felt you were somehow entitled to without having to earn it) from your grasp. Again, congrats to you and your charred city.

Ummmm…..Patriots (3 SB championships & 4 appearances in last 10 years), RedSox (2 MLB championships in last 10 years), Celtics (1 NBA championship & 2 appearances in last 10 years).  So Vancouverite, what do you have to brag about in the last 10 years?? Tell ya what, since I am feeling charitable today, I’ll even expand your window to 20 years. Now what do you have? Oh, right 2 Stanley Cup appearances, 2 losses, 2 bad.
