Tim Thomas: Political comments ‘personal’ 02.08.12 at 11:30 pm ET
By DJ Bean

BUFFALO — Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas was asked two questions about his Facebook comments about the Catholic church Wednesday. The first question wasn’t finished before he responded.

“That’s my personal life,” he said. “I won’t be talking about that. It has absolutely nothing to do with the game of hockey.”

Thomas was then asked whether he worried about the attention that his comments on Facebook attract.

“That’s my personal life,” he said. “I won’t be commenting on that. It has nothing to do with the game of hockey or my job as a Boston Bruin.”

He’s not running for President. Stop asking dumb questions, reporters.

Tim should spend a little less time on Facebook and a little more time in the locker room righting this ship

God bless Tim for speaking up for Catholics.  He is heads and shoulders above  the other “scarred” players on his team ( Read Canadian) .  The Canadian people today are afraid to speak up  for fear of being arrested. This is what we will be like if we don’s get rid of Obama and his kind.

Why does Tim and other Conservatives want to limit women’s access to reproductive health services?

  • Lorne

What planet are you living on?  What Canadians are afraid to speak up for fear of being arrested?  Yeesh.  How’s the Tea Party kool-aid taste?

  • Lorne

Maybe when he retires from hockey, Tim Thomas will have time to read a bit more, and to educate himself a little.  Until then, he comes across as an uninformed and opinionated idiot.  I mean, anyone who claims Glen Beck as their political inspiration…  that pretty much speaks for itself.

  • Lorne

If he doesn’t want to be asked about this stuff, then he should stop posting about it.  Posting PUBLICLY on Facebook makes it no longer a PRIVATE matter.

Liberals ask for acceptance all the time but would do away completely with conservatism if they could.  This helps our country go to hell people.

    Really?…

Keep creating these distractions, Tim. ”…nothing to do with the game of hockey or my job as a Boston Bruin.” Yes, you’re paid to be a hockey player but only BECAUSE the MEDIA follows and broadcasts your games. Your job as a Bruin WILL be impacted – eventually. You can’t put that genie back in the bottle…

Trade Tim-Me now.  Enough of his political beliefs.  Trade him while he could bring something of value in return.  He keeps spewing and nobody is going to want him in their dressing room.

If I worked at a catholic institution like Notre Dame, De Paul, etc., I would like the females in my family to have the same benefits as the rest of the country that does not work in catholic institutions have.
That is all this is. But there is great dislike by a few for the fact that there is a black man in The White House.

Yes, are we sure Tim Thomas is as smart as posted? His dislike for the black president has driven him to compare gas ovens and genocide to the government asking institutions to provide comparative health care to their employees. Not all employees of catholic hospitals and universities are catholics.

Nice hockey player but what a total idiot. DON’T CONFUSE TIM THOMAS AND THE TEA BAGGERS WITH THE FACTS.

I say Thomas is perfect to go on FOX as a commentator next to batsh…t Sarah Palin and the rest and he is perfect to move right into Tea Bagger celebrity chairmanship after he is finished with hockey. Consider the HYPOCRISY in that Thomas belongs to a union that in a sense is responsible for getting him much of the money that he makes. He might think that is his talent but if the Union was not there he would be collecting peanuts just as they were at one time long ago. And sports unions are a democratic and “socialist” idea just as MEDICARE, SOCIAL SECURITY, 911 RESCUE, EMERGENCY ROOMS, ETC.., are. The hypocrits criticize it but they never refuse it. The Tea Baggers call 911 Rescue and drive in beautiful “socialized” interstate highways and get Social Security.

Hey wheres the stimulis package! O ama is one of the worst presidents ever!

Good for you Tim Thomas, you can voice your “personal opinion”.   Shame on the reporters, they need to do better, like reporting on the Bruins and hockey.

  • Gopatsyeah

excellent stats, esp. the ones involving Fielder Vs. Ortiz… I don’t think anyone realizes how close they are!

Hafner is his best comp and that’s not gonna get him over the hump.  I’m virtually certain the Sox will win at a hearing.  Papi should settle now at $13.5MM for one year.  Otherwise, even if we win, we should release him in spring training.  I don’t think its a good idea to have him moping around the lockerroom all year long about his contract (or lack thereof).

Tim Thomas is a great goalie and is giving an honest personal opinion.  He is entitled to his opinions.  stop finding fault because you disagree with him.  How many times have you stated a personal opinion that is not in aggreement with someone else?.  it is impossible to satisfy every person even in you own household.

Simpletons…please collect your thoughts for a breif moment…the Catholic religion does not and will never condone abortion/contraception, that position prohibits them from dispensing abortion pills/condoms. Catholic women who choose to use these pills or get an abortion, do so without the assistance/support of the church.  The government trying to mandate a fundamental change to Catholic church doctrine are violating the constitution, overreaching into changing religious principles and violating separation of church and state.  Obama told us he wanted to fundamentally change America…tearing down the Catholic church pro-life doctrine would be a major victory for him…but this time he’s bitten off way too much.  Sorry pro-deathers, I’m with Thomas on this one.

You talking about the 98% women who use birth control?…

PLEASE… the Catholic Church as “victim” is priceless and ridiculous. If Catholics just lived by their own doctrines and not try to make them the law of the land they’d have an ounce of credibility. BTW where’s Bernard Cardinal Law, the pimp who sent known pedophile priests into unsuspecting church communities to DESTROY the lives un the BORN?…Yeah, he’s chillin’ in Rome. Save the victim talk. Face the facts, the CC is the biggest BULLY on the block.

Canadian ministers are not allowed to speak from the pulpit about certain bible passages. One was arrested in Western Canada a while ago for doing so.This has had a chilling affect through all of Canadad. I know of what I speek. I do not belong to the tea party but have seen government take control over many things that they have not had control of in the past.
