According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie on Twitter, the Bruins have re-signed centers Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell to multi-year deals. McKenzie reports that Kelly’s deal is for four years and $12 million while Campbell will get three years and $4.8 million.

Kelly is coming off a career year offensively, as he reached the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career and put up a personal-best 39 points. He is an alternate captain for the Bruins, sharing the team’s second ‘A’ with Andrew Ference.

Campbell, who was acquired from Florida in the June 2010 trade that brought Nathan Horton to Boston, has totaled 45 over his two seasons with the B’s.

Great News. I like the Bruins moves thus far this offseason.

I think Chris Kelly would have gotten about 4 million per season as a UFA, and I expected the Bruins to pay him 3.5 per season, so they saved 500K on the salary cap per season at least on that deal. Probably the best third line center in the NHL as an all around player, great defensively, solid position wise, decent hitter, pretty solid hockey IQ, really just fits the Julien system nicely as a third line center.

Campbell would easily have gotten 2 million per season as a UFA, I expected him to get a 1.5 million per season offer from the Bruins, so 1.6 per is only 100K more per season than I expected against the salary cap. Good deal, Campbell is durable, dependable, good team guy, solid all around fourth line center and easily worth 1.6 against the cap.

All they need to do now is sign Tuuka Rask and Mike Mottau. Everyone else they should NOT resign.

Benoit Pouliot sucks, let him walk, doesn’t fit the Bruins system. Trust me this is addition by subtraction. Don’t let his few highlight goals blind you from the truth that this guy is the softest player ever.

Brian Rolston, really guy made over 6 million versus the salary cap last year. If they resign him it’s a waste of money and a roster spot. Rolston was old like three years ago and his entire game was, key word was based upon skating speed.

Greg Zanon is a defensive defenseman that is a defensive liability. Need I say more?

Joe Corvo, not only does he suck, he is cursed. The Curse of Joe Corvo (no matter how many defenseman you acquire to replace Corvo on the roster, you will sustain an equal number of injuries to ensure you need Joe Corvo playing. He has got to go.

Marty Turco, see ya later, hopefully Montreal signs him.
