Bruins surrender third-period lead, fall to Sabres in Buffalo

The Sabres scored three consecutive third-period goals to come from behind and beat the Bruins, 4-2, Friday night at First Niagara Center.

The loss dropped the Bruins to 8-2-2 on the season, with the Sabres having delivered both regulation defeats. Buffalo held the B’s to ┬ájust three shots in the final period, outshooting them, 10-3, over the final 20 minutes.

The Bruins held a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play thanks to goals from Dougie Hamilton and Rich Peverley [1]. Hamilton’s tally, a power-play strike in the first period, was the first goal of his NHL [2] career.

Buffalo opened the game’s scoring on Drew Stafford’s first goal of the year. They overcame the third-period defect with goals from Tyler Myers and Christian Ehrhoff, with a Cody Hodgson making it 4-2.

Making his third start of the season, Anton Khudobin made 22 saves on 26 shots. The loss left his record at 2-1-0 this season.
