By WEEI

The Bruins beat the Lightning, 4-2, Thursday night in Tampa thanks to a two-goal performance from Nathan Horton.

The B’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to first-period goals from Horton and Patrice Bergeron. Steven Stamkos got the Lightning on the board at 8:13 of the first, with rookie Cory Conacher tying it up in the second with his sixth goal of the season. The B’s retook the lead at 13:58 of the second on Brad Marchand’s team-leading ninth goal of the season. Horton made it 4-2 2:33 into the the third.

Marchand and Bergeron also had multi-point nights thanks to assists on one another’s goals, with Dougie Hamilton turning in a pair of assists as well. Marchand’s assist was just his second of the season, though he now has nine goals in 13 games played.

Must really suck to be a Tampa fan and know you got all the calls tonight and still lost the game by 2. Another nice road win and here’s hoping the schedule doesn’t do them starting Sunday as games get very compacted over the next month or so.

Thanks Marchand for the go ahead goal. Great game by all the Bruins tonight. Wish Norton would have got the hat trick. Nice 2 points on the road.

  • Go B’s

Beat the highest scoring team. Great win. Go B’s.

Good to see Horton getting his game back…I was worried he might become another statistic but he’s working hard…my fave guy remains marchand…Lord knows we’d all hate him if he was playing anywhere else…what a pest…that 2nd goal that he worked so hard behind the night to gain control was testimony…that’s nails, pure unadulterated nails.

Yeah, the kid has talent to go along with his on ice attitude. Lucic looked a lot better tonight as well. I know he didn’t show up on the score sheet but he played end to end the whole game. Maybe whatever that personal issue was has been weighing on him along with having the new daughter.

The B’s are by far the most likeable team in town. Every guy plays hard every night, the young guys are stepping up the veterans are doing their jobs and there is no crap that surrounds this team like the rest of the clowns in this town. They have to find a way to keep Horton. He may not be the sniper they need, but he is clutch and other teams fear him a little. I’d be surprised if they don’t make the finals although I would love to see Iginla on this team.

Agreed on Horton.  Funny at the end with the open net, he was so tired he couldn’t finish the hat trick and had two solid chances.  I think he was on the ice for about 4 straight minutes, they were trying to get if for him.

Agree.  Glad to see the guy have some success. I love his game. I still look at him as a ticking time-bomb, but if he can get past this season, his chances are much greater of sticking around.

    No joke…one bad hit and he’s Savard….

My thoughts exactly. With how things were going for him last season, I thought he was just about there. Glad I’m wrong so far.
