Claude Julien: ‘I didn’t say anything wrong’ 03.04.13 at 12:37 pm ET
By DJ Bean

WILMINGTON — Bruins coach Claude Julien said Monday that he doesn’t regret Sunday’s comments about the Canadiens embellishing, though when speaking about it Monday, he steered away from singling out the Habs.

“I didn’t say anything wrong,” Julien said. “I didn’t blame the refs, I didn’t blame [anyone]. I said the embellishment puts refs in a tough position because they call it, it’s one thing, but if they call it and the guy’s really injured, it makes them look bad. We’re not helping the referees by embellishing. It makes it tough for them. It’s not as easy to correct as it seems because there’s consequences if they make a mistake on calling an embellishment.”

Added Julien: “Like I’ve talked about before with hits from behind, responsibility also has to come from the guy getting hit, to stop putting yourself in a vulnerable position. I think embellishment is the same thing. You’re embarrassing the game and there’s no room for it.”

    exactly

They really do need to enforce this by calling embellishment as they enforce hits to the head. Claude is right.

You go Claude….They know your right!!! Freakin police yourself, your not a 5 year old that might not know any better….

It may be tough on the refs, but when the game is over it should be pretty clear from the video who was faking. Then the league can hit ‘em where it hurts — in the wallet!

Do what the NBA does…go back and watch the videos….and if there are violations, penalize the perpetrators with suspensions….the message will be heard loud and clear…

     Good solution…..Should do the trick….

MONTREAL WAS NEVER THIS TYPE OF TEAM UNTIL SUBBAN SHOWED UP THERE.NOW HE’S GIVING ACTING LESSONS TO THE WHOLE TEAM.

The simple solution is this. Just like questionable hits are reviewed after the game, review embellishment plays. If a player dives as if hit in the face but replay clearly shows otherwise simply fine or suspend the “actor” using the same breakdown Shany uses now.

Why not review the tape after the game and assess the flops and suspend the offenders 1 game???

Why do you think soccer is considered such a joke?  Basketball is not much different.  Embellishment.  It ruins the integrity of the sport.  Hello Gary Betman,  your sport has no room for this kind of mockery.  A lockout, embellishment,  diving,  whatever you want to call it.  It needs to STOP!!!  Teams like Montreal,  Vancouver,  the biggest culprits.  If these teams want to continue this kind of despicable conduct then ship them to Europe where such play is encouraged.  Hockey has all the qualities of a top flight sport that could easily be embraced by a much broader audience,  if it would wake up and stop shooting itself in the Proverbial foot.
