In a minor move, the Bruins signed defenseman Christopher Breen to a one-year, one-way contract. The 25-year-old played nine games for the Flames last season.
‘We actually did do something today,’ general manager Peter Chiarelli said semi-sarcastically of the move.
Breen figures to be an AHL defenseman who could provide depth on the NHL roster, though the Bruins are overflowing with NHL defensemen at this point. He’ll make $175,000 at the AHL level and $600,000 at the NHL level.
