Both Zach Hamill and Trent Whitfield were put on waivers for purpose of assignment Providence, while Jamie Arniel, Colby Cohen, Michael Hutchinson, Zach McKelvie and David Warsofsky will be head to Providence for their camp, which opened camp Tuesday.

The biggest training camp battle remains the seventh defenseman, as both Matt Bartkowski and Steven Kampfer are still in camp.

Tyler Seguin scored his second preseason goal in as many days as the Bruins defeated the Canadiens, 2-1, at Bell Centre Monday. With the win, the B’s swept their two-day trip up north, as they were victorious Sunday night in Halifax against the Habs.

Chris Clark also scored for the B’s. Tuukka Rask played the entire game, making 31 saves and allowing the Habs’ only goal to Michael Cammalleri.

The Bruins are now 3-0-1 in the preseason, losing to the Senators in overtime and defeating the Islanders once and Canadiens twice.

Bruins release Dougie Hamilton, Jared Knight, Ryan Spooner, 11 others from camp 09.23.11 at 10:27 pm ET

The Bruins made 14 cuts Friday night, and they’re rather significant.

Andrew Bodnarchuk, Ryan Button, Marc Cantin, Carter Camper, Craig Cunningham, Josh Hennessy, Kirk MacDonald, Nathan McIver, Kevan Miller and Jamie Tardif will head to Providence, while Dougie Hamilton, Alexander Khokhlachev, Jared Knight and Ryan Spooner will return to the OHL.

Pretty surprising to see Spooner, who lasted deep into last year’s camp, go back this soon. He and Knight figured to have the best (albeit slim) shots at potentially making the OHL to NHL leap for the B’s. This is good news for the likes of Chris Clark and Jordan Caron.

David Krejci doesn’t know who Justin DiBenedetto is 09.23.11 at 10:17 pm ET

Bruins first-line center David Krejci received a fighting major late in Friday night’s preseason game, and no, Benoit Pouliot was not involved.

After Krejci hit an Islanders player along the boards, he was jumped by Islanders youngster Justin DiBenedetto, and after a brief tussle in which Krejci never dropped his gloves, both players were handed five-minute majors.

“I had my helmet on, my gloves on. I just got jumped from behind, and that was it,” Krejci said, noting that his hit was clean. “He fell on me, and I didn’t have a chance to do anything. I don’t even want to fight. It’s a preseason game. Come on, it’s the first game back. I want to get my timing. I don’t even know what the — who the guy is, to tell you the truth.

“I don’t know who that kid is,” he added. “I understand he’s battling for a spot on the roster. I understand that, but I don’t want to comment on that. I don’t know that kid. I don’t think I’ve ever played against him before, so we’ll see what happens.”
